Football
After a strange season in which after a good start we won only two games in 2018 until April Scunthorpe have won their last four games and have cemented a playoff spot for the second successive season. It'll be either Rotherham or Shrewsbury in that depending on the table after Saturday's final league game.
Hopefully the playoffs will be better than the abject, timid performances offered up last year.

Re: Football
Got my tickets for the home and away leg against Rotherham. I was lucky to get the away tie; it sold out 5 minutes after I got my ticket.

Re: Football
In U17 Women's European Championship third place game Finland beats England 1-2 and qualifies to World Cup (this year in Uruguay).
This is fourth time ever in any age group, men and women included, that Finland participates any World Cup tournament and first for U17 women.

Re: Football
Unfortunately Scunthorpe's defeat at Rotherham last week put an end to our promotion bid via the playoffs. A Summer of restlessness awaits as I fear our best players will possibly leave following playoff defeats two years in a row and the possibility of bigger clubs being interested. At least we have our first signing for next season and the plans for the ground revamp look good.
To be fair, Rotherham were the better team and I wasn't as disappointed as last year when I felt we capitulated to a poorer Millwall team. I also got frisked by the stewards before the game for smoke bombs after a sniffer dog took exception to me! Never experienced that before; needless to say they found nothing on me.
Here's a photo of me at the end of the game:
During the game (7 rows from top, 1 in):
Here I am being frisked!

Re: Football
In a dramatic match interrupted by Danish player collapsing, Finland took first ever major tournament win - with a kind of embarrassing record.
(This was first time Finland ever plays in a major tournament, aside hosting 1952 Olympics.)
We are the first team ever to win a game in European or world championship tournament with stats of only one shot at goal in the whole game.
This does give us a chance of making it to round of 16.

Re: Football
Women's World Cup is turning out surprisingly interesting.
Germany, Canada and Brazil out of playoffs and now USA on first round - in a helluva dramatic way. I still need to see more data to decide if that was a goal or not...
