Re: World Cup Brazil 2014 game

Thanks, but... that's only half the game.
Please also choose a group A-H, which you think has best teams.
(Doesn't matter if that's few days late since it's for the playoff phase.)

Another reason for not being interested is the fact that, with the time change, most of the games are broadcast from very late at night going in to the early hours of the morning here. Besides, it's an important tennis time - Queens on at the moment, and soon Wimbledon. Far better than soccer! The only reason we followed it back in 2010 was because SA hosted the World Cup so we really had very little option!!

Just the right hours for me!

Even the sauna nights somewhat fit, I'll only miss first half.

I don't usually do that in my games, but in this case it will be more interesting if you have different choice then others and most good ones are taken (and because you've been so kindly playing my games - unlike some people), it'll be coin flip between A and F and you'll have...

Group A

If Brazil wins championship, you'll score well.

Kaunisto, I'm angry about this tournament, normally I'd be interested enough to get obsessive about spreadsheets with all the scores and placings etc., I do that with all world cups for the major sports, rugby, cricket and this one. But in this case, I'm really angry about the way they bulldozed poor areas, and sidelined people who live on the fringes of society in the name of money from outside coming in. This thing hasn't made the lives of ordinary Brazilians better, it's hurt thousands of people who don't matter because they are poor. So no amount of passive aggression is going to get me interested, my husband understands this so please excuse me from this game.

This is the same reason I'm not interested in the F1 tournament. It's air-pollution in the name of money. It does nothing to improve the lot of the people who host the events, and the emissions from the cars add to the pollution we're already throwing into the atmosphere. So now you know, you can understand why I'm not keen to participate in the hysteria around this particular tournament, or the one in Qatar in 8 years (that one because they abuse women and children) and the F1 thing.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. If the rest of you enjoy it, that's your right, in a free world. I also have a right to ignore the things that make my human-rights hackles rise up in anger.

(Now you know you can excuse me).

Read this.

I'm with Mo on this one.

Same happened in Beijing when homes were bulldozed for the Olympics.

Yep, I'm not interested. Beijing, I wasn't too fussed because they at least pretend to take care of their citizens, Brazil not so much, so they can take their world cup and stick it where the sun don't shine, along with the management body who push people around and won't let individuals make some money that's not ordained by their rules. I can't see why innovative people are forbidden from making objects for visitors to buy, and thereby get a boost of extra income, but FIFA says no, and the government hosting the event has to come down hard on people who don't do as they're told. So no, I'm not interested. I'll watch TV in the other room while Barry gets his religion fix.

Not to mention the near-slave labor who are dying by dozens in Qatar constructions.
And 2018 games are in Russia, just keeps getting better. Their winter Olympics wasn't much better than Beijing.

Have to to say I would've agreed if they'd canceled Bahrain GP last year and giving hockey WC to Belarus this year was stupid in first place.

Oh and let's add to the list Russian GP this year. My guess in season start game was that it wouldn't happen, but I'm afraid I was wrong.

Also, about Brazil: they tried real hard to ban selling beer in games to help keep order; FIFA didn't accept that.
Budweiser is one of FIFA's major sponsors.

And I'm not really that "passive aggressive", just kidding with the two of you. Mostly.
Heck, Petal's the most successful player in history of my F1 Game! (Or did my mother pass her last year? Have to check statistics...) I never hold grudge for you not joining a game. More than couple days.
