Re: Ice Hockey
I don't think it'll work as it will be 1:00am I think. Or Midnight as you've said. I'll be in bed either way.

Re: Ice Hockey
Right now it seems Russians are the next best, but they haven't been very convincing (penalty shootout with Belarus and few 1-2 goal wins), so I think they're beatable.
Canada should win Sweden, but so should've czech...
Sweden has a nasty tradition to be tough playoff team.

Re: Ice Hockey
After a fight tougher than the numbers show Russia wins Finland with cruel 4-0 :tears:
Canada won Sweden 5-4 so the final will be between the two teams that have won every game in the tournament.
We on the other hand still have huge stakes. Ice hockey WC bronze is always appreciated in Finland, but now... playing against Sweden...
If we lose this game, the birth rate in Finland 2009 will be down by a percent, because every man in this country will be too depressed for anything for few days.
Bronze game is in saturday 20:00 GMT and final in sunday 18:00 GMT (again I may be wrong by hour... or more)

Re: Ice Hockey
I found this report in our local paper today, which was unusual because we don't often get news about ice hockey! It came from Canada so I think it's more "from their side of things" but I thought you guys may find it interesting anyway.

Canada beats Sweden 5-4 to reach World Hockey final
QUEBEC CITY, Canada(AFP)
Canada celebrates their 5-4 win over Sweden in Quebec City
Canada advanced to the gold medal game of the World Ice Hockey Championships Friday with a four-goal rally in the second period to beat Sweden 5-4.
Mike Green scored the winner and had two assists for defending champion Canada who will face Russia in Sunday's final after the Big Red Machine blanked Finland 4-0 earlier Friday.
Green raced down the right side and scored with a wrist shot from a sharp angle to make it 5-3 with just seven seconds to go in the second.
Swedish defenceman Doug Murray tripped at his own blueline allowing Green the time he needed to get a good shot away.
"I was going to pass the puck and I noticed their two defencemen bumped into each other," Green said. "I didn't know how much time was left on the clock and our forwards were standing still.
"But if I

Unlucky Finland. II hope 3rd place will be there's. It will be tough as I imagine them and Sweden are evenly matched.

Re: Ice Hockey
World champion is... Russia
They won Canada in the most awesome game of the tournament.
After having been 3-1 and 4-2 down, Russia came back in last period for 4-5 overtime victory.
After 15 years of no gold, Russia is back on top.
Canada fails to break the curse; no host country has won since 1986.
And this was in many ways a very special year:
quote: Wikipedia:
It was the first time the final tournament is held in a non-European country since 1962, when it was held in Colorado, USA. The IIHF wanted to celebrate the federation's 100th anniversary by holding the tournament in the country where ice hockey was born.
The official 1-8 standings:
1. Russia
2. Canada
3. Finland
4. Sweden
5. Czech Republic
6. United States
7. Switzerland
8. Norway
