Re: Ice Hockey
I'm not sure if this is official, but apparently CHL is cutting down from last/next season 48 teams to just 32 for season 2017-18. 24 of those teams will come from the six founding leagues and this means that at least two of the 26 founding teams (that have until now had automatic place in CHL) have to drop out. Those would be a Finnish and a Swedish team, as it's also said there won't be more than 5 teams from any league.
I'm not sure why this is, I think it undermines the whole format. I imagine they think this'll limit domination of the league by Finnish and Swedish teams.
Edit: I just found out. The thing is that from 2017 on there are no automatic CHL spots for the founding teams, but everyone must earn participation in league. Leagues have 1-5 spots based on ranking that comes 1/2 from last season, 1/3 season before and 1/6 season before that.
In short, CHL becomes a real "champions league".

Re:
This year was the greatest NHL draft ever for Finns: 4 on first round, including picks #2, #4 and #5.
15 Finnish players drafted in total. Plenty of future there.

Re: Ice Hockey
CHL going so far as well for Finns as can be expected - and at least equally well for Swedes.
KHL also started and Jokerit won their opener against Spartak 1-2.
The interesting bit of KHL season is the new team: first Chinese team, Kunlun Red Star. Besides Chna entering KHL, it's of particular interest to me because the team has seven Finnish players (including captain) and the coach Vladimir Yurzinov Jr. (like his father) has history in Finnish Liiga.

Switzerland 6/6
Czech 4/6+1 (the +1 is Czechian team that plays in Austrian league)
Germany 3/6
Slovakia 2/2
Austria 1/3
Belarus 1/1
Norway 0/2
France 0/2
UK 0/1
Denmark 0/1

Re: Ice Hockey
Real bad luck in the CHL playoff draw, two pairs of Finnish teams in first round and three others play Swedes. Plus it's likely all Finns play Swedes in first or second round. And let's face it: Swedish league is the top one.
While after bad start we did end up getting all 8 teams in playoffs, here's potential to an absolute disaster - which could mean having one less Finnish team in CHL on following seasons.

Re: Ice Hockey
World Cup was a total disaster for Finland. Straight up three losses, including the neighbors. Final goal difference 1-9.
I hope Team Europe wins.

Re: Ice Hockey
World Cup is over and Europe didn't quite pull off miracle. Nevertheless, great effort from the Slovak/Swiss/German/Danish/French/whatever team that was expected to be last.
Meanwhile Finland played the worst tournament in 60 years (counting WCs, Olympics and Canada/World Cups). Awful.

Re: Ice Hockey
ABSOLUTE DISASTER!!
All four Finnish teams lose by one goal, two overtime.
In previous two season there were four Finnish teams in QFs; now ZERO!
Worst of all, this may effect on number of Finnish teams in CHL on coming seasons (dropping us from potential 5 to 4).
Now remaining:
3 Swedish teams
3 Swiss teams
2 Czech teams
