Re: What are you reading at the moment?

You're all going to be very impressed. I'm doing a major clear out. I have books on the shelf behind me on the tables around me, on shelves in the lounge around the tv and on the bookshelves around my bed.
I got a book cataloging program similar to the dvd one, so I'm now going to give away the ones I don't want to keep and list all the ones I do want to keep with details of when I last read them etc etc. Maybe a bit silly to do that but my books go missing and I can't remember who borrowed them.
So big clean up happening in Pennington from this week - if only the weather would cool down so that working is a bit more comfortable.

That is an excellent idea! I also write down who has what books of mine.

How are you going to organise them on your shelf? By type 9fiction, science, fantasy etc) or alphabetically by author or both?

Are you going to bring your books to the second hand bookshop or to your local library?

I'm a shocker when arranging bookshelves. Subjects and topics and authors go by the board - have to have the tallest ones on the left, going down to the shortest ones on the right, on each shelf!!

With this database you can tell it where they are stored but I usually have the non-fiction and classics in the lounge, and my reference books and fiction in my study and the current or about to read books by my bed. But there are hundreds to go through so its a big job noting each one.
And no Petal I try to keep the same genre together I don't care about size. At one stage I had so many, I had fiction/non-fiction separated and in alphabetical order. But then the kids moved out and each took their books, then we moved and I gave more books - to Hospice. Now we've collected a lot of read once only books and I'll give them to the bowling club to sell to raise funds.

I'm reading a few books at the moment. Jeff Shaara's Rise to Rebellion is at the top of the list though

Well, I finished the Elegance of the Hedgehog. What a beautiful book. I cried my heart out at the end.

Now I'm on to Bill Bryson's :_Rediscovering_America_on_the_Appalachian_Trail]A Walk in the Woods and this will be followed by
%28book%29]Down Under.

Sorry I haven't answered your question sooner than this Iris - no, I'm afraid I didn't finish the Jodi Piccoult after all; jut couldn't "get in to it" so set it aside and I'll pick it up again sometime - right now I need a book that I can get hooked on from page 1 !

Just finished reading Hide by Lisa Gardner which started okay but ended in a mediocre fashion. And next one to pick up is 'The Sleeping Doll' - Jeffery Deaver.
