Dial *99#

Just out of curiosity... are you familiar with "*99#"?

It's what I do to use my last decade Nokia as modem.
You basically have the old dial-up system, but instead of phoning to any server, you put "*99#" as the phone number.

Not sure if this is an old Nokia standard or does it work with other phones.

I've never heard of it, but then I haven't had dial-up since 2004.

Well technically this isn't dial-up, it's just cell phone pretending to be dial-up connection.

I think that's a European thing. Since the first phone became capable of connecting to the internet, we've been able to access the internet. I can't remember when. I use my phone as a modem when I travel, if I don't have my cellular modem with me. Which reminds me, I probably have about 10Gb or more data on my cellular modem now, I should check.

I think it's a last decade thing... I should get my internet on this one before it ends.

I can't imagine a world without access that I have now. I'm seriously thinking of dumping our satellite service now we can watch tv online.

I would happily dump DSTV except we share with our neighbour and also sport sport sport! And John likes some other stuff as well which I find totally boring, but after all - two of us live here.
