So far I've considered hard brexit very unlikely, but time is running out...nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Mon, 15 Jul 2019 18:52:32 +0000 Re: Brexithttps://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109624,from=rss#post109624https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109624,from=rss#post109624quote:Kaunisto wrote: What do you think, if there's Brexit (particularly hard kind), will Scotland move towards independence? I think it's inevitable if there is a "no deal" Brexit. The second most divisive political event in my lifetime was the Scottish independence referendum in 2014. I'm not anti-independence but it brought out the worst on both sides of the argument.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Big J)Sun, 14 Jul 2019 22:54:35 +0000 Re: Brexithttps://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109621,from=rss#post109621https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109621,from=rss#post109621What do you think, if there's Brexit (particularly hard kind), will Scotland move towards independence?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Sat, 13 Jul 2019 13:16:21 +0000 Re: Brexithttps://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109620,from=rss#post109620https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109620,from=rss#post109620I live in Scotland. Brexit has proved to be the most toxic, divisive issue I can remember. People's genuine concerns have been hijacked by a far-right agenda and they have been sold something which will not address their issues and will leave them considerably worse off. We are on the cusp of having a new prime minister who has openly touted racist views and has no solutions to Brexit or any of the major political issues. I really fear for the future of my country (Scotland and UK). nondisclosed_email@example.com (Big J)Sat, 13 Jul 2019 10:12:15 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109535,from=rss#post109535https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109535,from=rss#post109535It's the most idiotic thing the English have yet done to themselves. Shooting themselves in the foot springs to mind. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Tue, 18 Jun 2019 14:42:17 +0000 Re: Brexithttps://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109528,from=rss#post109528https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109528,from=rss#post109528I'm more of uncertain than confused. Let's try to add up main points... (correct me if I'm wrong) - as UK has started the procedure, it will happen unless agreed otherwise, with the current date... I think end of October? - there are basically 3 options for UK: cancel the whole thing, approve the negotiated agreement for the terms of leaving EU or leave without agreement (which would shut them outside various trade systems and treaties) - parliament appears to be divided between the three options so that none of them gets 50% support to pass; the middle ground says the referendum needs to be respected and cancel isn't acceptable but no-deal Brexit would be disastrous, while neither anti-Brexiteers nor hardcore Brexiteers accept the deal - if Brexit happens, Scotland may be headed to another independence referendum, them being perhaps more eager to remain in EU than in UK; however Spain might, due internal matter, block Scotland from joining EU if it became independentnondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Wed, 12 Jun 2019 17:03:54 +0000 Brexithttps://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109525,from=rss#post109525https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p109525,from=rss#post109525Is everyone else as confused about Brexit as I am?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Petal Alderin)Wed, 12 Jun 2019 15:12:40 +0000
