2019 European Parliament election

Brexit has made this quite a mess, as 14 countries (including Finland) will have different amount of MEPs depending on whether and when it happens.

Populist right is expected to make gains and this, combined with Brexit, will weaken the main right group European People's Party (EPP), making it a close race between them and main left Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) for position of largest parliament group.

For Finland, it looks badly that Finns Party will do well. They won big in the parliamentary election, but had no chance of actually being accepted to new government, making them the new main opposition party - an ideal position for mindless ranting.
But Euro elections can be surprising, because turnout is always considerably smaller than in national elections.

Re: 2019 European Parliament election

I have to admit that I haven't payed much attention to European parliament and I'm now looking into it.

The six largest Finnish parties are each in one of the currently six largest groups of EP; the two smallest are also in those groups.
