The Ballad of Donald J Trump

The ballad of Donald J. Trump

He stood 6 foot 2, weighed 239.
A successful businessman that walked the line.
Broad at the shoulder
a little extra on the hip.
Everybody soon learned,
you give no lip to
Big Don, Big bad Don.

Well, he came down the stairs
and jumped right in.
The swamp was deep,
He had to swim.
It was full of alligators, lizards, and snakes.
But Big Don is a man that has what it takes
To defeat his attackers, one by one.
He had to take them out until the job was done.
Big Don, Big bad Don.

They hit him from the top
then the bottom,
The left and the right
He really fought em.
He soon learned what a fight he was in,
but didn't give up, he was in to win.
Big Don, Big bad Don.

The American Patriots cheered him on,
They just loved their Big Bad Don.
They knew who he had to stomp,
before he could go in and
drain the corrupted swamp.
Big Don, Big bad Don.

He is fighting for America
in the fight he is in.
He wants to make America
Great again.
It will be time well spent,
when everybody calls him
Mr. President.
Big Don, Big bad Don
President Donald J. Trump.

Well I'm afraid I think the man is not all there. Among other things he has several personality disorders and he strikes most of the world as being very dangerous. So now that he is precedent elect, let's see how things go and how many of his campaign promises he carries through with. And to all those who love him - well, your choice, and you have to live with it!!

I'm really pleased he's not the president of my country. I thought ours was pretty bad but he seems like an honourable gentleman by comparison with the sexual assaulting, racist, bigot that Americans have had foisted on them by the ignorant masses. Not my circus, not my monkeys. Thank science for that.

I expect the republicans to hold him back some. I'm almost more worried about what congress and senate are up to, as I expect Trump will either agree or bargain with them on anything.

It's a bit of both for me. I can see how the talks over defunding Planned Parenthood and repealing Obamacare will come from the more established Republicans, and I can't see Trump having the wit or motive to fight them on this. However, his continued erratic behaviour over social media and in speeches could damage relations with other nations, mislead the public over why his promises may not be what was expected and his continued praise for Putin is worrying given Putin's ambitions.

I think he's just a troll. He's the guy who comes onto a serious discussion on the internet and argues, just for the sake of making people angry. Then he goes back to the website that spawns internet trolls and boasts about how he managed to get banned from another forum in record time. I've dealt with them on the internet for almost a decade now. I recognise a troll when I see one.

He's not actually going to do the job, except for the hand-shaking, deal-making, and party-hosting. The day-to-day running of the country will be left to his VP while he just enjoys sitting in the Oval Office tweeting about how much he hates Hillary.

Re: Re:

I have thought that for some time. He was never going to follow through with his most absurd promises before the election (locking Clinton up, the wall) and he likes to provoke his enemies. As president he'll have to deal with diplomats from other countries who he might find disagreeable, but his conduct with them so far has been careless and thoughtless.

He has sided with kleptocrats and hostile forces when it suits him and they've coddled him (see Putin and Duterte), but has risked American diplomacy and played into the propaganda of China and North Korea over Taiwan and the North Korean nuclear threat. I agree that the one China policy is atrocious and North Korea will probably need to be confronted at some point, but I don't think his methods are the answer. Making unsolicited comments on social media and going against protocol is just going to cause tension and it will not solve the issues at hand (Taiwan is not going to become free because Trump phoned their president to give support). Also, when confronting North Korea we'd need to ensure that we have allies strongly on our side and their potential backers (e.g. China) are not going to support them (leaked documents have shown growing weariness from China towards North Korea for their provocations). Spouting on twitter about how Trump's going to stop their missile development programme is going to get North Korea's attention and not in a good way. They are unpredictable and volatile, a barber shop in London once offered Kim Jong-Un hair cuts as a joke and the owner got hounded by Koreans for mocking dear leader, so this will definitely arouse Korean suspicions. It will be more proof to their propaganda about how the great American menace seeks to destroy North Korea. I do want North Korea's government to be destroyed, but this will not achieve it through the best possible means, and I doubt Trump will be able to destroy it at all.

I think the dangers of Trump domestically are somewhat overstated, he is unlikely to differ from previous Republican administrations in this, but the geopolitical ramifications are large. He's risking tensions with China (so much for the we need Trump to dampen the chimes of war) and he's willing to bow down to Russia to rebuild relations. The sad thing is that this is unlikely to happen, as I don't believe Putin particularly cares for the USA; his Russian state has been built around opposing the American menace and he's not going to ditch this useful propaganda when it has successfully yielded results in recent years. So the supposed benefits of having Trump over Clinton here will not be there and we'll have to deal with the Syrian situation and Trump's growing influence in eastern Europe, to the detriment of their democratic freedoms, without a leader with the intelligence or willpower to stop them.

My prediction for near future is that Russia and China continue their aggressive, even expansionist actions against their neighbors.
Trump will bargain with them for economics gains for US and to present himself as "peacemaker". That is, unless he starts a trade war with China he won't be able to pull out from.

Re:Trump

I understand that a little over 50% voted for him.

A few days ago,his disapproval rating was a little over 55%.

I did not vote for him.
This is as far I will go on this topic.
