Not as big as a swan but just a big black duck. Actually the ducks are Egyptian Geese, there are also Sacred Ibis in there too.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Tue, 19 Jul 2016 08:21:00 +0000 Re: South Africa places of interesthttps://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106348,from=rss#post106348https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106348,from=rss#post106348What's that one bigger black bird among the ducks?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Mon, 18 Jul 2016 15:44:17 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106347,from=rss#post106347https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106347,from=rss#post106347Some pics from our holiday here.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Mon, 18 Jul 2016 09:05:59 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106303,from=rss#post106303https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106303,from=rss#post106303There are three species of snakes in Finland: common European adder, grass snake aka water snake (the one in picture) and third I can't remember (plus the slow worm/blind worm, which is actually a legless lizard). The adder is only poisonous one. It's also most common, only one I've seen - maybe ten times in my life. We have two native hares, the mountain hare (aka blue hare, tundra hare, variable hare, white hare, snow hare, alpine hare and Irish hare - and in Finnish "forest hare") and the brown hare aka European hare (in picture). Also rabbits as invasive species, mostly in Helsinki.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Sun, 03 Jul 2016 13:49:49 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106300,from=rss#post106300https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106300,from=rss#post106300I turned on Google translate to read it. Interesting animals. I can't identify them exactly, but I sort of recognise them. I didn't know you had snakes in Finland. Poisonous? Here's the translation. Question marks where google couldn't translate quote:White-tailed deer: moose: ?, ?, whooper swan, grouse, otter, mink, sparrowhawk, wood mouse, muskrat, raccoon dog, wolf, barnacle goose, pygmy owl, frognondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Sun, 03 Jul 2016 10:25:47 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106298,from=rss#post106298https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106298,from=rss#post106298Yes, yes, you had them well named. I'm fairly familiar with most animals, except the Australian ones. Those are weird. Post the ones you don't know. I thought I'd named them all. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Sat, 02 Jul 2016 16:13:32 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106291,from=rss#post106291https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106291,from=rss#post106291There's quite a lot of animals I could not name and I do watch nature documentaries. (And Fear Factor, didn't they once eat those bugs?) Makes me wonder if any common animal in Finland is particularly unknown around world. All sorts of weasels are a mixed lot at least, I can't keep count of them myself.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Sat, 02 Jul 2016 15:47:53 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106283,from=rss#post106283https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p106283,from=rss#post106283Some images of Johannesburg, South Africa's biggest city, here. On the border between us is a range of mountains, where South Africa has declared a national park, which means that the land is protected from being developed, and it is a reserve for wildlife to roam free. This reserve is called "Golden Gate national park". We visited there in January 2016. Here are the photos.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Sat, 02 Jul 2016 11:34:23 +0000
