Happy new year everyone and here's to a prosperous 2015. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had a goodish night at a private party held at a local cafe. The music playlist was very good, which is a plus, since I don't usually get to listen to music I actually like on a night out, as most nighttime establishments fixate on chart music. Anyway, I ended up feeling like a matron all night, as one of my friends was feeling emotional due to personal problems, so needed calming down every 45 minutes or so, and on the way home I escorted an old man home who had far too much to drink and was obviously vulnerable given that he was by himself. He couldn't walk in a straight line, he was hobbling, and when I found him he was walking across a poorly lit bridge which has a reputation for muggings and other such crimes, so I thought I'd better help him back to make sure he gets home safely. I got to know a bit about him too; he's originally from Greenock, Scotland (I'm not surprised, there is a large population of people with Scottish origins here), he would have voted yes to Scottish independence, and the SNP in a general election, if it was possible, and he works as a teacher at a local specialist school dealing with autistic children. Anyway, I got him home safely in the end; though he did fall over once when I loosened my grip slightly for a couple of seconds, and he was extremely grateful. He had been drinking at a pub, known as The Honest Lawyer, with his friends and I can't help but wonder why they let him travel back by himself in such a vulnerable state, some dodgy character could easily have taken advantage of the situation. Maybe they were tipsy themselves and were unaware of how bad he was when he left, I don't know, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt given that I wasn't there.

...He had been drinking at a pub, known as The Honest Lawyer...

...and the old man's crime was... drinking at a pub called the "honest lawyer". Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

But seriously, kudos for getting him home safe and hope your new year goes well Lion, and everyone else too.

Thank-you guys, but I'd like to think that most others would have done the same in that situation. It wouldn't have been right or fair to leave him as he was by himself, so I just did what I knew I had to do.

Haha, it's a good name. To be fair I don't blame him for drinking there; it's a good pub with plenty of decent ales and a good atmosphere.

Same as I've always been, except older now. emoticon

Looking forward to the new Star Wars film this coming December.

And even more excited about the new Phantasm RaVager film.

Something interesting about both the two mentioned films are that their first releases were both in the 1970's.
The original Star Wars movie in 1977
and
The original Phantasm movie in 1979.

Both Star Wars VII and Phantasm V feature the original actors that played in the first Star Wars and Phantasm films respectively.
