Studying, travelling & life

Over the past few years I have accumulated several photos, primarily, if not all, from my time at university. I have decided to showcase some of these on here soon; I can't say when, but I'll likely start the process of hosting them on an image site this weekend and then share them on here. So that you're not bombarded with them all at once I'll spread it over a few weeks.

As I've said, the photos will probably be all connected to my time at university and they will include trips to South Wales, USA, Isle of Mull and my dissertation in the Lake District, Cumbria. I hope you'll enjoy them!

Can you post the link to the image hosting site, Leo, please. If you use Flickr, you can get a whole lot of space for free, and also collect a whole bunch of followers to look at your pics. It's better than Photobucket.

I'm sure I'll love them.

It's been later than I expected, and I apologise for that (I've been busier than I'd anticipated), but they are here now. Here are the first batch of photos linked to my first year at Keele:

The next set, which will probably be my trip to Pembrokeshire in April 2012, will be up asap.

The next batch is ready, and this time it primarily focuses on my trip to Pembrokeshire, however the first two are still from my university in first year.

The peacock that lived outside my accommodation. Unfortunately, it had a gammy eye and I didn't see it again after this photo was taken.

Playing pool at one of the several bars on campus.

A sunny day along the Pembrokeshire coast.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Sitting on a beach.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Tilted beds; these are almost 90 degrees! In fact, if I remember correctly, these have been inverted (i.e. they are the wrong way up stratigraphically).

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Deformation along a thrust fault; producing the fault bent fold. This is one of the best examples of such in the UK, and has been dated to the ]Variscan orogeny. Apologies for the blurry quality.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Small anticlines formed during the Variscan orogeny.

Looking out towards an outcrop that I'd later go to.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
Photo from the previous outcrop.

Looking out towards a small bay.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
More anticlinal folds, but this time linked to the ]Caledonian orogeny.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
A secluded bay home to the oldest rocks in Pembrokeshire (roughly 600Ma).

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
A view towards the headland.

That's some views, nothing like that here. Finland is rather boring also geologically.
