An update

Hello all,

I thought I'd pop by to tell you all how I'm doing. Well, I graduated yesterday from Keele University with a solid 2.1 degree (I've known this for 2 or 3 weeks, so it fortunately wasn't a surprise on the day). The day itself was lovely, even if it was humid, with the robes on it was unbearable, especially when inside for the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Keele chancellor Jonathon Porritt, a former leader of the Green Party I believe, and I got to shake his hand when accepting my degree. The only tinge of sadness was that this represented the end, I won't experience the lovely Keele campus again, at least not for a while, and I won't see my new friends on a regular basis now.

For the time being I'm mostly focused on driving lessons. I've done a few two years ago, I think I mentioned it, but I'm not sure. This time I aim to get a test in and pass it (hopefully first time), so that my job prospects increase. I am also applying to jobs across the country, from London to Birmingham to Edinburgh. I have also applied to a job as environmental health consultant at my local council, which is not related to my degree, but it'll give me money and experience for the future, plus a driving licence won't be so pertinent, since the office will be a 10 minute bus journey away.

I might put some photos of me at the graduation on facebook later, but if not I'll probably post them here instead.

Great to hear from you. Do put a pic or two here, I'm still avoiding FB like a plague.

Welcome back Leo! And again, congrats on having done so well at uni. Now the world is your oyster, as they say! We've always had your back, and known that you would excel, so we're very proud of you and very happy for you.

Good to hear about the driving lessons - makes good sense, and it'll be another avenue to open up more possibilities, as you so rightly say.

Let us know which of your job applications is successful ... good luck for the interviews, and do please tell us all about what you will be doing.

From me too Leo. To repeat my congratulations and best wishes for success in finding a job, and of course getting the licence.

It's been a wonderful journey watching you grow from a fifteen-year-old school kid to a graduate professional. Excellent. I'm very proud of you.

Hopefully now that the pressures of studying aren't on you anymore, you'll have time to spend here again, I miss chatting to you.

Thanks guys, the kind comments are much appreciated. emoticon

Kaunisto: I'll probably post them on Facebook and then link the photos here. You should be able to see the photos without having to sign in to any account.

Petal: The driving lessons will aid, most definitely, for the local job it won't be so pertinent, but if I take that it'd just be a stop-gap until I find something I truly want as a career. It's getting scary now, this is the first time I've been out of education since I was around 5 years old!

MO: Aye, it's been 6 years since I first posted here, I've grown ever so much since then. I will do, now that there is nothing much going on other than job applications and driving lessons.

Petal: Aye, we still have Penny, she's 10 now and as timid as ever. A Bruneian friend stayed round for a weekend a few weeks ago and she was terrible. She's only just been able to summon the courage to venture into the guest bedroom since his leave. They're all fine. emoticon

How have you all been? I hope life has been treating you well.

Noooo, she's a housemate from last year and has been in some of the modules for my degree, since she did a similar course.
