That's terribly sad - horrible, horrible news. Is he still comatose K, or has he woken up?

Earlier they said he was kept in coma, but I assume now they are waiting if he wakes up

Anteater, hoover, alien...
The cars aren't pretty and many people are saying it. But there are great differences how the teams have made a nose fit to new rules; may be interesting.

First of 3 test weeks is on. It's early to say much, but Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Williams look good so far.
Renault engines may have trouble, hurting Red Bull and Lotus of the top teams.

Re: F1 2014

2014 teams and drivers:

(Teams in order of last season points order. In the new number system drivers will have permanently same numbers in future seasons except champion has 1.
M/F/R=team uses Mercedes/Ferrari/Renault engine)

Red Bull R

1 (5) Sebastian Vettel
3 Daniel Ricciardo

RB and Vettel have ruled four years, but huge rule changes may drop them from top.

Mercedes M

6 Nico Rosberg
44 Lewis Hamilton

Since returning to the sport Mercedes has steadily improved. Now there's only one step up to go.
Making engines themselves is big advantage to M & F.

Ferrari F

7 Kimi Räikkönen
14 Fernando Alonso

In recent years several teams have claimed to have "the toughest pair of drivers". I'd say that's Ferrari this year.

Lotus R

8 Romain Grosjean
13 Pastor Maldonado

Money trouble, Renault engine, Kimi (and much other personnel) leaving... Lotus may head for disaster. But they have a gimmick nose and two fast, if unreliable, drivers. Lotus is still the dark horse.

McLaren M

20 Kevin Magnussen
22 Jenson Button

After worst season for decades, McL looks strong again. Only question are the drivers: Button is not too agressive competitor and the rookie dane unknown.

Force India M

11 Sergio Perez
27 Nico Hülkenberg

Lately the best of middle group, may benefit of M engine. But very unlikely to challenge top 4-5 teams.

Sauber F

21 Esteban Gutierrez
99 Adrian Sutil

Another wild card, but no great expectations. I can't believe both Mexicans were able to buy a place after last year...

Toro Rosso R

25 Jean-Eric Vergne
26 Daniil Kvyat

The russian rookie is youngest F1 driver ever. That's probably the only noteworthy thing about TR this year.

Williams M

19 Felipe Massa
77 Valtteri Bottas

After worst season ever, W is eager to get back to top. They're all in now and so far looks good.

Marussia F

4 Max Chilton
17 Jules Bianchi

The bottom teams M and C haven't gotten a point in their 4 seasons. They may now, if the new cars start season as unreliable as some fear.

Caterham R

9 Magnus Ericsson
10 Kamui Kobayashi

I'll be, a swedish F1 driver. Good to see Kobayashi back.

Mercedes teams and Ferrari are still strong, McLaren and Williams sure to improve from last season disasters. Red Bull is going to have rough start for season, but they're not alone. Looks like Kimi was right to leave Lotus.

Last tests coming up.

The only news in friday practice is that Red Bull isn't in as bad shape as it has seemed so far.

Looks bad for Ferrari; strong show from McLaren.

But do note: this was first race since 2009 that two Finns get points (unless you count Rosberg and... we usually don't).

Re: F1 2014

This might not be as interesting season as expected; Mercedes looks real strong.

Mercedes may be legendary name, but it has less F1 history than you'd think. Before this modern team started 2010, Mercedes has only been in F1 1954-55. As engine maker they've been since 1994, but team Mercedes/Benz has less than 100 GPs at the moment.

Malesia was first 1-2 of the modern team, thus first since 1954.

So far drivers to win championship with Mercedes engine are: Fangio (54,55), Häkkinen (98,99), Hamilton (08), Button (09)
