F1 2014

Time to start talking about next season and once again it starts with a rant.

WTF has FIA done this time?! Last GP gives double points?
Why the hell when some team/driver becomes too strong, they always try to fix it by changing scoring? And to more unfair system of course, because if someone is fastest all the time the fair result is that he wins clearly. I for one think a fair system of good sportsmanship is more important than the series being "excitingly" decided in last race due a scoring gimmick.

And another almost as stupid idea. Someone in FIA thought it cool how footy and hockey players keep same number (or maybe this comes from US racing) and now they're messing the old simple number system which, for me at least, made it easier to learn who drives in which team in new season.

Now all we need is Pirelli to get their wish for two compulsory tire changes and even I'll start to lose faith to the sport.

1,6 liter engines, ERS-K, ugly front... This is not going to be best season ever, though possibly very interesting for Finns.

To my huge surprise, there will be two Mexican drivers and only one Russian.
Sauber keeps Gutierrez despite very bad season and Sirotkin only gets to be test driver.

Good news for Heikki as Gutierrez was also talking with Caterham.

Kaunisto if you're running some sort of race thing, sorry but I'm opting out. As part of my coming to terms with my ageing process, I'm also not participating in anything that doesn't interest me anymore. That includes sport. I'll watch the occasional cricket match, but otherwise, when himself has sport on television, I have enough entertainment elsewhere and headphones I can use to block it out. I don't have to do anything I don't like to do anymore. So sorry but I don't even look at F1, except to note that someone was almost killed in a skiing accident. I'm sorry about that, but I'm really not interested.

I'm afraid I will be trying to convince you and Petal to reconsider in couple months...

Nope, I'm not going to do anything I'm not interested in anymore. I have too little lifetime left for that.

Re: F1 2014

Bad news, Kovalainen won't be in F1.

Caterham has named the last drivers and those are interesting ones: Kamui Kobayashi returns to F1 (after a period of no Japanese driver, team or engine maker) and Magnus Ericsson, first Swedish driver for over twenty years (insult to injury for Heikki and Finnish fans).

There seems to be a curse that there's never three Finns in F1, while there has been at least one for over twenty seasons consecutively and most of that two.
(There actually were two GPs with three Finnish drivers, '94 I think.)

Team manager Eric Boullier is leaving Lotus. That's real bad sign, good that Kimi got out of there.

Any update on Schumi? We heard about his ski accident just after Christmas, and then nada.

A former F1 doctor just recently gave very grim statement, along the lines that it'd be miracle if he'll ever walk, function or even have old personality.
