Dangerous animals
In recent years here has been lots of talk about wolves and bears. There's real wolf hysteria in countryside, with people saying they can't let kids walk to school.
FFS a wolf last killed anyone in this country hundred years ago! And our bears don't come to cars and trashcans like in some places.
So what does kill people here? I saw statistic the other day.
Depends a bit what counts.
Most common animal related death by far is hitting a moose. Any speed, car hits the legs and +500kg body hits driver. About 5 dead per year.
Next is a monster who uses biological weapon: vole. The cute little murderer spreads disease killing 2 a year, well beating in this climate mosquitos (who, despite cooperation with hare, only kill 0,1).
But what about those that actually physically attack and kill? The winner of that category is... dog! "Man's best friend" my ass. Et tu, Pluto. A murder a year puts dog barely ahead of wasp, cow and horse (if you can blame it on animal that someone insists climbing on it and then falls off).
Even the vicious pyroman cat is responsible for more deats than bear or adder.
And wolf? "Do we have to wait a child is eaten by wolves before we do something?" Yes we do, because it'll be a long wait.

Re:
Scaremongering.
People kill more people than other animals do.

Re:
Animals are doing what animals do. They are being pushed out of their habitat. I think you have better odds of getting hit by lightening than killed by an animal.

Re:
Or being killed by a mugger.
We have to accept that if we continue to breed and the more that our species takes over the habitats of other animals, those other animals are going to become extinct. If we want to retain the present living species, then we have to make sacrifices. The way to do that is to limit the number of children our species is allowed to breed. It's our arrogance that we are somehow special because we are able to manipulate our environment in more and more sophisticated ways, that is causing the rest of the world's species to suffer. Simply stop people having so many children, go into negative population growth, and leave natural habitats to the other animals that live there, and those animals won't kill us.

Re:
I totally agree Mo. I see these families with 5 and 6 kids and shake my head. I get wanting children but 2 is plenty. The world is too overcrowded as it is.

Re:
I agree Becky, animals do whatever they have to do in order to survive. A few years ago there was a shark cull in Western Australia. I understand there may be a need to protect beachgoers, but when we swim in the oceans, we're nothing more than visitors in a completely different world that's not our home. Sharks are predators, they've lived on this planet for millions of years and they'll do what they need to do to stay alive. Humans seem to think that, because we're the dominant species on this planet, we have the right to do whatever we like.
