Re: F1 2013

Webber is leaving F1 after this season, will drive Le Mans 24 and something else for Porsche.

We're into another round of driver changes - especially if Grosjean and Massa can't improve.

Now... Silverstone

Re: F1 2013

Speculation on Räikkönen continues. Many say Ricciardo takes the Red Bull place, but RB is still interested of Kimi. Rumors are also moving him back to Ferrari, but staying in Lotus would seem most likely, if they can find money to build a competitive car.

Heikki Kovalainen gets to drive Caterham in friday practice at Spa and Monza, increasing his chances to return to F1 after failing to get a car this year.

We're having exciting times waiting to find out how many Finns will drive next season in F1. It's 0 to 3, Räikkönen, Bottas and Kovalainen all may or may not be in the series 2014. Räikkönen already left F1 once, he's shown he can go drive something else if he doesn't get a satisfying deal. Bottas has trouble finding financial backing and the so far fine rookie year doesn't guarantee future. And Kovalainen is a total wild card.

It's official, Räikkönen returns to Ferrari! He is the first to do so (beside Massa & Schumi injuries) in twenty years, since Berger. This also marks first time since 1990 that two world champions drive Ferraris and even then one wasn't yet.

I hope Massa can continue in F1. Maybe they'll take him to Lotus. But the top candidate there seems to be Hülkenberg.

Re: F1 2013

We have FIA calendar for 2014 and it has 22 GPs!
So far only season 2012 has had 20 races and until this century top was 17.

Next season there will be all same as this year except India (which will return 2015) plus Austria, Mexico, first ever Russian GP and... New Jersey? It's on the list, but we may have 21 GP season.

2014 is about to see Russian invasion in F1. First Russian GP, possibly two new Russian drivers (there's only been one so far and Petrov was shortly in bad team) and who knows the big rule changes make Marussia team more competitive.

So it's official, congrats Vettel and Red Bull once again.
Maybe next year is more interesting.

Kimi's quite respectable time in Lotus gets ignoble end. Abu Dhabi ended in first corner and now he skips the last two races to have back surgery - which might have waited the couple weeks if Lotus had money to pay him.
This suggests Lotus didn't get the planned investors, which would be bad news for Hülkenberg and perhaps good for Maldonado.

I think it's shocking that he wasn't paid … would have told Lotus to get knotted, frankly!

What's shocking is how common it has become that drivers (and other personnel) have wait for their pay. It's always been that when a team runs out of money it's the driver whose pay is first delayed; easier to deal with one person than 50 workers or a company that provides parts.
But right now there are number of drivers waiting to get paid for this season, and couple for last too. Kimi just is a world champion, owed more than the others combined.

If only Lotus would take Heikki Kovalainen for the two races. Not impossible: he's one of very few who've driven friday practices, experienced driver and was in the team back when it was Renault.
