Re: F1 2013

Well you already chose last year winner, so it'll be Vettel for Australia.

I'm setting up the game now, even though Force India is missing a driver and Marussia hasn't fully confirmed Razia.

Today started first 4-day tests. No surprises so far, the only notable thing is that Alonso isn't driving. Despite (unconvincing) excuses, there are strong rumors of some kind of injury.

Please do as you usually do K, and give us a comprehensive list of all the drivers and the different teams and manufacturers etc, so that it's easier to choose? Before the qualifying if possible!! Thanks!

It's over month to the first race, I'm just setting up the game early hoping to get players.

In the wiki link on top of game topic you can check the teams and drivers. But I'll write the usual explanations at some point.

Latest rumors about the last open place in Force India name test driver Jules Bianchi and former HRT driver Narain Karthikeyan (Backed by Indian carmaker Tata).
I suppose it's up to how badly they're out of money.

Re: F1 2013

2013 teams and drivers, in order of last season team results:
*=new drivers in F1

Red Bull

1 Sebastian Vettel (champion 2010, 2011, 2012)
2 Mark Webber

Since rules are almost same as last season, the reigning champions are still favorite. The only major rule change, limiting DRS in qualifying, may help them too.

Ferrari

3 Fernando Alonso (champion 2005, 2006)
4 Felipe Massa

In end of season Ferrari seemed to be getting weaker, but Alonso and Massa are saying the new car is huge improvement.

McLaren

5 Jenson Button (champion 2009)
6 Sergio Perez

By the end of last season McLaren was the fastest team, but it was too little too late for 2012. However that suggests they'll be strong now from start. McLaren hasn't been fast in tests, but that may only mean they are preparing more for the race than qualifying. Only question is how will Perez settle in the team?

Lotus

7 Kimi Räikkönen (champion 2007)
8 Romain Grosjean

Steadily improving along last year, Lotus is very optimistic on this season. It's rather surprising that they decided to keep Grosjean after all the crashes last year, but I suppose he is fast.

Mercedes

9 Nico Rosberg
10 Lewis Hamilton (champion 2008)

Many suspect Lewis Hamilton made a huge mistake leaving McLaren for Mercedes. I tend to agree - except that 2014 and after that any top team may win. But this year I wouldn't bet Hamilton or Rosberg to win even one GP like Mercedes did last year.

Sauber

11 Nico Hülkenberg
12 Esteban Gutierrez *

Sauber has always been wild card. In beginning of last season they got to podium, but winter tests didn't look good and a rookie driver doesn't help.

Force India

14 Paul di Resta
15 ????? (Adrian Sutil, Jules Bianchi, James Rossiter?)

Force India has had all kinds of trouble, rumor is the team might be sold within a year. The immediate problem is that they are only team who hadn't chosen drivers before February tests. Still, they have year after year done better than I had expected.

Williams

16 Pastor Maldonado
17 Valtteri Bottas *

Last year Maldonado won a race, but that's not likely to happen this season. Sadly the latest Finn in the series doesn't have much chances for podium, but hopefully some points now and then. They had relatively good speed in tests.

Toro Rosso

18 Jean-Eric Vergne
19 Daniel Ricciardo

TR had hard time getting any points last year and the job isn't getting any easier.

Caterham

20 Charles Pic
21 Giedo van der Garde *

In three seasons Caterham hasn't gotten a single point with experienced and/or good drivers Trulli, Kovalainen and Petrov. Now they have two money drivers and no better car than before.

Marussia

22 Luiz Razia *
23 Max Chilton *

With HRT bankrupt and out, Marussia is now the bottom team and two rookie drivers wouldn't pull them up even if they somehow had competitive car.

And the last driver to start season 2013 is... Adrian Sutil!
Minor surprise, I was expecting Jules Bianchi to get the place in Force India.

I won't comment about personality of a man who almost ruins his career with a bar fight, but I'll admit he's a good driver and by skill deserves to drive F1 better than half of those who do.

Just as I thought we have final driver list, there's one more surprise.
Razia may not have the money for driving at Marussia and the team is supposedly looking for last minute replacement.

This is the last chance for Heikki Kovalainen to stay in F1. It would be nasty to see him in even worse car after three literally pointless years in Caterham, but it'd still be three Finns in the series. And due connections, that could make him McLaren spare driver.

Can you put Webber in there for me somewhere. I don't have a clue but I fancy him to win at least one race.

Mo, Petal. The game has it's own topic, please try to post your choices there and read it to check the situation.

Mo, you already previously chose "last year winner" (Vettel).
I'll put you Webber for next GP - Malesia is just week after Australia.

Petal, two weeks to go and you haven't yet chosen - or thus joined the game.

Right now are on the last tests, ending sunday. The rain in Spain... is bad for F1.
