I'm sorry about your teeth. I had mine done a long time ago so it's not traumatic anymore, I'm used to it. I'm going to have to get my ears sorted next. I'm really quite deaf these days. Enjoying having my granddaughter visit while her mother and sister spend a few days in Cape Town.

We don't own a car anymore, and don't want one. We have the access we need, and otherwise rely on the kids to move us about. I can't drive with my sore hand at the moment, and to be honest, I don't care to.

Just back up to the cloud. Or store everything there so it backs up automatically and can be found again wherever you are on whatever device by just signing in on a browser. Mine is virtually done now except that I've found a great-grandmother with no ancestry at all. It's almost as if she was a foundling that didn't have anyone. Sad to have that gap in the tree but what does it matter anyway. No one except me really cares about it.

Otherwise life goes on. With the cooking, I'm enjoying having access to an oven again. I haven't had one since we first moved to Howick so it's nice to have that. And that's me for this week.

Teeth sorted so far, and go back tomorrow for him to check things. Not too bad; fortunately I have a high pain threshold. J also needs to get hearing tests done, so must remember to make an appointment for that sometime soon.

We considered scaling down to one car, but it really won't work - both far too independent. No major rush at this point .. John is still John, and not rushing into any decisions in a hurry until he's thought it over. And over!

Will get back to the FT eventually, no rush. Maybe during the winter ...

I'm in the throes of depression again. Yesterday we spent the afternoon with the little boys at lunch. I don't get to see them often, only every couple of months, so I really value time I spend with them,
I think the result of hurting my hand badly enough for it still needing to be strapped up after four weeks has made me realise that I'm ageing faster than some other people do.
I get really annoyed with images people show me of people in their 90s running marathons, or others bering able to travel off into the world on their own. I can't make it around the supermarket on my own anymore, Then I get accused of "giving up".
I'm actually done now. Quite happy to shuffle off if only not to have pain anymore and not to be dependent on people having to help me walk across a car park.
My brain is still active and interested but my body feels, permanently, like I've been in a car crash,

On the other hand (no pun intended), quite a big percentage of people are dead by your age...
(you wouldn't want to see images of them either!)

I'm not getting anything done in this month. I mean worse than usual, not even reading or games.
I suppose this is what's called "spring tiredness", maybe coming from not sleeping properly when there's light for longer.

Home for a week of rest, then back to work. Fieldwork season is starting, so I will be working on projects for my PhD. Eeek.

Hope everyone has had a good Easter weekend.

Very quiet for us, except for lunch down at the centre yesterday which was incredibly yummy! Still can't bite or chew properly but I enjoyed the starter, which was a roulade of spinach, cream cheese, and smoked salmon ... and then had veggies for the main course. Puds just slid down!

Spoke to all the family which was wonderful, and also to our German family. Waiting to see if they're coming in October - if not, we'll go to Australia. Now looking forward to seeing one son, and grand-daughter, on Saturday.

Cool and showery weekend weatherwise. but we've jus bern relaxing with the puppies and watching TV or reading, and I'm crocheting ...

As they say, all quiet on the western front.

It's been raining all weekend. We were up at 3 this morning to watch game of Thrones, then went back to bed to sleep because it's cold. Today BB and I have had a good time watching Ray Donovan which we haven't seen before, so lots of catching up to do. Lentil curry for supper tonight.

Good day at the flea market, got some anime and Babylon 5 pilot film (which I haven't seen for over 20 years since it aired before the show here).

Also saw couple oystercatchers at the pond, not very common here inland, I see them in average once or twice a year, may have been two or three years since last time.
And either it's the same birds or there's just no room for two pairs in the area.

We're having apocalyptic floods in Africa. The heavy rain has destroyed our pool. It's overfull and now the motor doesn't work, so I have to get a pool guy in to look at it. I'm inclined to wait until the climate change type flooding rains stop. Its not fun, the western part of the country is having a hard time with too much rain and water.

Otherwise feeling a little better after spending the day with my granddaughters yesterday, and agreeing a date to visit Petal and John for a weekend. So that's going to be fun. My daughter-in-law is driving us with my new granddaughter to take her to meet her adopted granny. Definitely makes me feel a little better. I never thought I wish for the rain to stop but it is a little much when it falls in curtains of water every few hours.

Only problem here this season is pollen and dust, anyone with breathing difficulties doesn't want to visit Finland now.
Though it seems to be getting hot fast, couple weeks since the last snow came and now it's already T-shirt weather.
