Ooh if you've been baking I'm on my way over! I should do something in that line myself but I'm not in the mood, although I also spent time in the kitchen this morning doing some cooking; got supper all ready early so just have to pop it in the oven later to heat through, and toss a salad.

Seems as though Barry is just doing what he used to do when Louis was alive because he's in that sort of routine, but I agree with you totally, no need for it at all. My guy is keeping out of my way this afternoon and faffing around in his car, vacuuming it all out and trying to remember where everything is in the boot because there are so many little storage places in there that he forgets what he's put in which one! I'm still steaming, although he has apologised. But saying sorry doesn't come easy to him and he gets in a mood. Bah!

On top of everything else we received a letter from SARS this morning, dated 19 March and mailed on 23 March (!!) addressed to The Executor (which J wasn't) of his late sister's estate - she died a year ago next week and the estate was all wound up and done and dusted by the end of last year. They now claim she owes a huge amount in unpaid taxes lol and are demanding that we pay it in. Faxed it to the executors/lawyers in PMB - their problem. But it's disconcerting to get this kind of stuff. And as far as we know she didn't have to pay tax at all. Weird.

They don't know up from down those people. (You should've heard what I was thinking, and then wrote the polite version).

This cheesecake recipe I used, from the newspaper. It's really nice. I've never done a baked one before, always chosen the fast route with jelly before, this time I used ricotta and cream cheese, with four eggs, and baked it in the oven in a bowl of water to keep it moist. It's delicious. I'm really pleased with the result. I'll make it again with other fruit. Tomorrow I'll decorate it with cream and fresh strawberries then I'll take some photos.

Re: Hello, goodbye and what are you doing today...

I don't think I'll get a car afterwards, the insurance is far too expensive for me to afford it. It's a shame that some youths drive recklessly giving the mature ones a bad reputation. Besides I doubt that I'll get a test in before I get back to university.

It's strange hearing you praising our public transport Petal given that many here criticise it. Buses are often late, train tickets are a rip off and the service isn't great. Still, not many here can compare it to the equivalents elsewhere.

I can be at ease now my first driving lesson is over and I now have my results for the first year at uni. I passed and am chuffed with my results. It's a shame that the first year doesn't count to your final degree over here! Anyway, onwards and upwards, it's now time to enjoy my holiday to the Lakes which starts today. If only the weather matched my mood.

That's a shame that the first year doesn't count. How can you do the second, third, fourth..... without the basics. I would say that I'll start with second year, seeing the first year doesn't count. emoticon

Do it at your own pace Leo, everything, don't be in too much of a hurry to grow up. Once you're there, there's no turning back.

Allow me to warn against taking that to extreme...

Wish my mood matched the weather.

Kaunisto, it's nice if you can get away with it. Kids are always in a hurry to grow up, until they're actually grown up and realise what is expected of them. I would love to go back to being 16 just to feel what it feels like, not having any responsibilities again.

I wonder, if we could go back to being 16 again, if we'd do anything differently?

I would want to have the life I've ended up with, but I definitely would've made the effort to get to university when I was still young enough to acquire and retain knowledge. I can't do that anymore, as much as I want to learn, I simply can't learn a lot of new information anymore. Even my speed reading ability is starting to slow down.

Just saying a quick "hello' before I go hide out for the day to avoid the heat. This is suppose to be the last day of this wave and can't come soon enough. Next week we are schedule to have central air installed and it can't come soon enough.

Last night dogs carrying on in the night. I got up to look out window, there was a bear drinking out of bird bath. Usually it's deer, first I've seen bear but it has probably happened before.

Poor bear was probably very hot and very thirsty! Keep that birdbath filled to the brim!

Hope your heat wave goes away soon. Hot here for this time of year too, it was 26C yesterday and it's meant to be mid winter. Global warming?
