Re:
A pottering Saturday here for me - 4 friends joining us for lunch tomorrow, so that we can test out the new little gas braai. So, I'm having fun in the kitchen. Our lemon tree is full of beautiful fruit so I think I'll make a lemon meringue pie for dessert, and later I'll bake a lemon loaf cake. Other than that I'm doing as much prep as I can in advance - all except for a tossed salad which I'll do tomorrow just before everyone gets here. Brilliant braai weather here at the moment so looking forward to a day outside and good conversation with good friends.

Re: Hello, goodbye and what are you doing today...
I'm relaxing this morning, as usual without having to cook lunch as I'm being taken to a new venue for the meal and it's a nice day so we'll sit outside to eat. Hopefully the view will be nice for photos.
I should know by Wednesday what we're going to do about our September break.

Re:
We had a great day yesterday with close friends and the new braai worked like a dream - quick, smoke free, and easy. Made loads of salads etc and the lemon meringue pie went down a treat too.
Today loads and loads of laundry, bah! Won't need to cook though so that's a plus - enough leftovers to feed another six.
How was your lunch Mo? Did you get pics to show us?

Re:
No, not really. I was irritated because I told the girl who took the booking that I wanted a vegetarian lunch, but she didn't write it down. So they sat us at our table, we had to get our own drinks, and they just brought the lunch to us, with meat and gravy and the smell made me want to puke. So I sent it back, then the owner said I should've said so when they asked if we were ready. When I said that I'd told the girl on the phone, she said it wasn't her job to do anything other than take the booking. The cheek of it. So I ate the food which barry enjoyed but that I thought was tasteless, I suppose after the mix up it just wasn't the same. The dessert was a horrible dry old chocolate cake slice with lumpy custard, which I gave to him to eat. I won't go back there. Other places do Sunday roasts but they at least let you choose, they don't just slap a plate of food down in front of you. Not nice.
Maybe I should cook lunch on Sundays instead. There's only one place here that does a buffet, but they allow people without shirts on into the dining room, and I don't like that. So I don't know. The pub used to be nice, but they've sold it so I don't know what the place is like under the new owners.
I'm spoilt I guess. I don't mind paying a little more if I get decent food and service, but I wasn't impressed with that place.

Re:
Sorry about that. Maybe try the pub and give the new owners a chance?
We have new caterers coming here to AV from the beginning of August, so here's hoping that things improve; we never go to our AV dining room anymore because the current crowd lost total interest and serve what amounts to hospital food, because they're more enthusiastic about a tour company that they started. The dessert that you were served on Sunday sounds like some of the stuff the residents here have had to endure ... caterers need to realise that the majority of residents here are not in Frail Care, and besides why should Frail Care patients have to put up with yukky meals?!
Luckily we have several good restaurants in the area that we can support - just sorry there isn't a Chinese one lol! Friends have invited us to the Portuguese Restaurant for lunch on Friday so that should be fun.
I've been through a bad patch with cooking for a couple of months and went into "couldn't be bothered" mode, but now I'm starting to feel a little more enthusiastic so maybe dinners here at home will also improve! I firmly believe that if you aren't interested it shows in the results of what comes out of the kitchen ... I'm upping the ante, lol!
