Cartoon child pornography

Should it be legal to draw (assuming there's no live models) and posses child pornigraphic drawings?

This has become an issue in Nordic countries in recent years (mostly thanks to Japan). Some time ago a Swedish manga translator was convicted of possession of CP for having on his computer drawn images which were legally published in Japan (where the law is that you can print basically anything if you smudge genitalia a bit).
So this guy gets fined about 500 euros, gets criminal record as sex offender and loses his job in the process for having drawings. Sounds quite rough.

I can understand the opposite view, that these things must be fought in the all levels, that the very idea must not be accepted.
But personally I'd put freedom of publication above. Censorship disturbs me more than people jerking on Homer raping his kids (never google "simpsons porn"). Whatever one might think of that, it still goes within "anything in your bedroom not hurting anyone (except masochists)". And with computers and internet it's rather absurd that viewing any of thousands of sites with this sort of material isn't illegal (as opening a page you can't know what's in there), but when you copy an image to your harddrive it becomes crime. But then again that's how it's with CP in general.

Finnish law is still undecided. It hasn't been defined what "child pornography" includes. Drawings/cartoons/comics? What about child pornographic text; De Sade's 120 Days was just published here. Again the question of limits of censorship.

What actually got me on this topic is a recent game. Latest Dead or Alive beat'em up on Nintendo 3DS wasn't published in Sweden, Norway and Denmark because the importer was concerned about CP law. The game has under 18 (=16-17) characters and the series is known for provocative poses, small bikinis and anatomical inaccuracy (and I don't mean manga faces). But there's no nudity and I doubt it's anywhere rated 18; propably not even 15 in some countries.

Re: Cartoon child pornography

I like to think that I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to sex Kaunisto.

I'm even prepared to be open-minded about the idea that children experiment with sex with other children but I can't be open-minded about adults sexualising or fantasising about sex with children. Children having sex with other children is one thing, even non-human animal babies play games pretending to have sex, so it's not totally unnatural but non-human animals don't generally have sex with non-fertile females. Humans have some pretty sick ideas about what is acceptable when it comes to sex and while I accept that sex between adults if they are consenting is their own business and that censorship in wrong, I can't consent to anything that incites people to imagine that sex with children is acceptable. So in this case I would say no. I'm on the censorship side on this one.

Possibly because there is so much raping of children that goes on here that I tend to be a little over-reactive about this but I can't approve of it.
