The new season (football)

The last one has only just finished, but preparations for the upcoming one are already in force. It's the fixture release tomorrow and it was the Carling Cup (League Cup) Fist Round draw today.

Some tasty fixtures including Notts County - Nottingham Forest and Leeds Utd - Bradford City. Both of these will probably be shown on telly due to the local derby element. Scunny are away at Accrington Stanley.

Accy are known for a now famous advert:

Good advert if you can stand the awful scouse accents.

Re: The new season (football)

Yesterday the fixtures were released for the new season. I would put up the fixtures for any AG related teams, but the Premiership and Football League have this odd rule which forbids any site that doesn't have a licence to show the fixtures. Even having a link to a site that contains the fixtures is considered illegal. It breaches copyright apparently.

So, should I go ahead and show them anyway as they are unlikely to find this site, or should I play it legal and safe and not bother? The anarchist in me is tempting me to go with the first. :coffee:

I'm sure my thought on respecting copyrights are known.

Women's World Cup is getting very little attention.

QFs:

England-France 1-1, penalties 3-4
Brazil-USA 2-2, penalties 3-5

Germany-Japan 0-1 OT
Sweden-Australia 3-1

SFs on wednesday.

If there is any proof that the differences between the genders are minimal, then this is it. England lose on penalties again.

Well that was exciting final: after 1-1 regular time both scored once on OT leading to penalties:

USA
X X X O
Japan
O X O O

Japan takes it's first World Cup; USA gets first silver to add to two earlier golds.
This was 6th women's World Cup. Other previous winners are Germany twice and Norway.

I watched the extra time and penalties. It was exciting, the standard is fairly good. They'd certainly give Scunny a game, but that shouldn't be too hard at the moment. emoticon
