Petal's Pics
I thought Mo's idea of having a separate section other than the photo competition was an excellent plan, so decided to open a thread for some of my photos as well, as I also experiment with a new camera.
My camera doesn't require extra lenses, which was one of the reasons that I bought it - I'm only an amateur photographer and can't afford to spend a fortune on equipment all the time, apart from which I don't want extra stuff lying around. Mo is a much better photographer than I will ever be, so I can understand why she is prepared to go the extra mile, but this one is sufficient for my needs and so far, although I still have a lot to learn, I'm quite happy with it.
It was dull and overcast this morning when we went for a walk with the dogs, but below is an indication of my "point and shoot" efforts to illustrate the zoom effect.
This is a little bird feeding at a bird-house at one of the houses here -
The first photo is just a normal snap. I was standing about 10 metres away.
This one is taken at 50% zoom:
And this one is at full zoom - which on my little camera is 26X:

Re:
I see what you mean. Pretty birdie.
I'm not that good a photographer, I just enjoy playing with technology. And this new digital photography technology is fun to use.

Re:
That is a sweet little bird.
And the zoom looks fairly good but I don't know much about cameras myself.

Re:
He's a little Red Bishop. They have such lovely colours at the moment, but these will fade as autumn takes hold of us ...

Re:
Edit: This and the next pic show summer flying insects buzzing around a light, soon after dark. I love the way they looks like vapour trails and strands of DNA lol!

Re:
That's a lovely picture of the rocks. I couldn't walk up there, I have to listen to what my body says when it says "enough."

Re:
Experimenting down on the beach and around the hotel today ...
This one was pure fluke! Couldn't see a thing through the viewfinder because the ship on the horizon was so far away, but clicked the button anyway and so it was a surprise to see that it actually did record the vessel heading for Durban!
Some of the surf and the rocks:
Bluebottle:
And a hibiscus for Mo!

Re:
Aw lovely. That one of the ship is terrific. I forgot about that, but most of my sea photos from the deck were too light.
