Latvala wins Swedish Rally! emoticon

This is first time since 2014 in same situation that a Finn leads WRC series.

Hänninen hit at tree and retired again.

Rally Finland indeed!! emoticon

Esa-Pekka Lappi takes his first WRC win in his 4th rally in the series and other Finns are 3rd and 4th!

Only low note is that Latvala, the only Finn actually competing for championship, had technical problem and only got couple points for power stage.

In total, the WRC season wasn't good for Finland. Latvala 4th, Hänninen 9th, Lappi 11th, Suninen 14th.
But there were couple bright spots: Lappi taking his first win and while the final Rally Australia was rather ugly for Finns (Latvala retiring from 2nd place in final stage), we saw upcoming 17-year-old second generation driver Kalle Rovanperä take his first point.

I'm still confused about our local Formula 4.

Finnish F4 series - "Formula Academy Finland" - starts this summer with 5 races (one of them in Estonia).
But I have no idea what happens to the North European Zone F4 series. Will it continue alongside, do Finnish teams/organizers (and races) drop out of NEZ F4 or is the whole series being scrapped?

Fernando Alonso, with teammates Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, has won Le Mans 24 Hours.

Alonso has said he is aiming for the Triple Crown: winning the famous races of Monaco, Le Mans and Indianapolis.
Having won Monaco 2006 and 2007, he's now only missing Indianapolis 500.

Graham Hill is the only driver ever to achieve Triple Crown. Sometimes F1 championship is included (as fourth goal or instead of Monaco); both Hill and Alonso have two of those.
Besides them only six drivers have won two of the three (12 if you count F1 championship) and only other driver with three of four (Le Mans, Monaco, F1 champion) is Jochen Rindt.
As Alonso has two Monaco and championship wins, that puts him ahead of Rindt, making him by this scale second greatest driver ever.
However even if Alonso won Indianapolis, Hill remains ahead, having won Monaco five times (and same two F1 championships).

World Rally Championship ended more and less satisfyingly for Finland in Australia.
In total score Latvala and Lappi were 4th and 5th, while Rovanperä was 3rd in WRC-2 class.

Positives:
- Latvala got the only victory for Finns this season in Rally Australia
- Toyota won the manufacturer championship with two Finns and an Estonian driving and multiple world champion Tommi Mäkinen as team principal - I assume first Finn to win manufacturer championship in that position

Negatives:
- with both challengers Neuville and Tänak retiring in last stages, Ogier gets his 6th world championship in a rather anticlimactic way; it was close to being decided in the last power stage
- not only is that championship 6th to Ogier, with Loeb before him that makes 15 in row for French drivers - also longest streak ever without a Finnish winner
- ...and the France-Finland-Rest of the World score in WRC is now 16-14-12

This was first time since 2007 that same team doesn't win drivers and manufacturers championship.

Nasser Al-Attiyah has won the Dakar Rally.
The 48-year-old Qatari driver won previously 2011 and 2015.

He has also competed in six last Olympics in shooting, winning a bronze 2012.

This was first Dakar win for Toyota.
