The order of team hasn't changed except by Williams falling from 6th to 9th place. I think this shows current rules - while saving money - limit development too much and make it near-impossible to compete with teams already ahead of you. And I'm afraid thing don't change much next season.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Mon, 28 Nov 2011 02:33:05 +0000 Re: F1 2011https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p92283,from=rss#post92283https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p92283,from=rss#post92283If Australia goes I will really lose my rag with Bernie and the rest of the men at the top. That would be another traditional (I class any race as traditional if it was there when I first started watching F1 in 1997). It's all very well and good taking the sport to new frontiers, but the tracks often lack the character that's present in the older courses. I too would love to see Valencia go (worst track on the calendar), but it has a contract until 2017! I'd personally like to see the European Grand Prix travel across Europe (i.e. have it in France one year and Austria the next). I see there are doubts over the Texas, Korean and Bahrain races for 2012, maybe they would be the victims (well Bahrain and Korea).nondisclosed_email@example.com (Li0nh3eart)Wed, 02 Nov 2011 16:39:14 +0000 Re: F1 2011https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p92224,from=rss#post92224https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p92224,from=rss#post92224Rumor has it New Jersey GP has ten year contract starting 2013. With Texas GP coming next season, it seems F1 is making a big attack to finally take USA, the final frontier. Of course that's (at least economically) good for the sport, but makes me wonder what races are out of calender. Particularly as there's Russian GP in near future too. Hopefully we'll get rid of Valencia, but there'll be some sadder losses too. Likely Australia, I'm afraid. Lots of talk about Räikkönen coming back. Maybe when you're at Uni there will be a nearby Sports Bar with big screens where you could go along with your mates and watch - I certainly hope so! Will you be going home most weekends Leo? Time for a driver's licence for you and maybe a little car to travel to and fro? Ideal to do the test now maybe I would think, before you get swamped with course work, even if you don't necessarily use it for much driving until you can get sorted with wheels. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Petal Alderin)Sat, 30 Jul 2011 10:44:53 +0000 Re: Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p91032,from=rss#post91032https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p91032,from=rss#post91032We do have Sky, but unfortunately due to university commitment I won't be able to see the races that are shown on Sky. Besides that's not the issue, as this decision could kill off the sport in this country. The BBC claim money is an issue, yet F1 brings in 10 million viewers so is a popular event screened by the channel. Why couldn't they drop tosh which no-one likes such as Songs of Praise, Bargain Hunt or the channel known as BBC Three (which broadcasts such top quality shows like Me and my man boobs, Sun, sex and suspicious parents and Fuck off I'm Fat)? The sport has been growing in viewers over the last few years, it's a shame that it will decrease now as many are giving up on the sport upon hearing the revelation.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Li0nh3eart)Fri, 29 Jul 2011 18:55:51 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p91031,from=rss#post91031https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p91031,from=rss#post91031Sorry you won't see it any more Leo - maybe your folks will get Sky sometime before next year.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Petal Alderin)Fri, 29 Jul 2011 17:58:45 +0000 Re: Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p91026,from=rss#post91026https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p91026,from=rss#post91026Sky has bought out the rights to F1 so that they will be able to show all the races live from 2012. BBC will only be able to show some of the races live, the rest as highlights. There goes another sport from terrestrial TV, for years Sky craved it (while hyping up the motorsports it broadcast like Indy Cars and the abysmal failure of A1 which it claimed would better F1 in popularity ) and now they have it, but ratings will fall as many people don't have Sky and won't want to subscribe to it, but Bernie was willing to sell the sport to them as the BBC is experiencing financial difficulties while Sky have billions to burn. It's a shame as I won't be able to watch it and BBC's coverage is good; now Legard has been dropped, the commentators are tolerable. Sky's motorsport pundits and commentators are poor to say the least, they're all emotionless robots who will never dare to express their full opinion in case it's deemed controversial. At least with the BBC you get people like Eddie Jordan and Martin Brundle who are not afraid of letting off steam when it comes to a decision made by a team, driver or the sport itself. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Li0nh3eart)Fri, 29 Jul 2011 13:19:34 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90942,from=rss#post90942https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90942,from=rss#post90942They're really messing with rules again. In 2014 it'll become rule that you must use KERS etc. electricity in pitlane. This sounds silly, but perhaps there's some safety factors or it's just to push further use of breaking energy and exhaust heat.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Fri, 22 Jul 2011 22:08:58 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90831,from=rss#post90831https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90831,from=rss#post90831On the colorful end of Silverstone: 1. I can understand Red Bull. When your drivers are coming in 2nd and 3rd, you don't want any risk of them hitting and as this was about mere 3 points, the team order really was about not taking stupid risks rather than favoring Vettel. 2. Jury decided not to punish him and I'm sure they know better, but the way I saw it, Hamilton hit Massa and earned two points by causing collition and should've been given 25 seconds - which would've only dropped him behind Massa. Hamilton seems to get away with these bit too often (I recall he put someone out of race in Monaco, gaining points with no penalty), while he still complains about being called to see jury in almost every race.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Mon, 11 Jul 2011 16:26:46 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90750,from=rss#post90750https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90750,from=rss#post90750Williams is about change to Renault engines. This spells doom to Cosworth who will be left with Virgin and Hispania, and with recent co-operation deal between Virgin and McLaren one may speculate on Virgin moving to Mercedes. If you ask me, Cosworth being there as engine provider is the result of Mosley's years of ****ing with engine rules to have at least one non-team engine maker. Related, the cancelled plan for V4 engines was apparently meant to bring in Audi, who later decided not enter F1. In other news, Hispania has been sold... but that shouldn't change anything for them, though the new owner says they aim to make team more Spanish (likely referring to future drivers).nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Mon, 04 Jul 2011 19:26:58 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90615,from=rss#post90615https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90615,from=rss#post90615Seems there won't be V4 engines at 2013 but V6 at 2014. Renault has - as last engine maker - accepted this compromise. Of course when the current Concorde treaty ends 2012, there will be once again terrible arguments on the future of F1.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Sat, 25 Jun 2011 22:11:54 +0000 Re: Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90393,from=rss#post90393https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90393,from=rss#post90393To be fair most races this year have been exciting. It's been the best F1 championship for years despite Vettel's dominance, there have been far more overtakes this year than all of the recent years at this stage of the championship. For me there was no need for a safety car start yesterday, the conditions weren't terrible at that point and it would have livened the start up. I know that driver safety is paramount, but these are the supposed best drivers in the world.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Li0nh3eart)Mon, 13 Jun 2011 18:30:59 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90388,from=rss#post90388https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90388,from=rss#post90388Rain is rain and sure that was quite a mess, but that was greatest race for years. I've said it before, Canada is one of my favourite tracks. And this weekend had so many heroes: Vettel taking a fighting pole with Alonso making it a fight for change, Button, Schumi finally showing some old skill (on wet he's top, can't argue), Kobayashi once again with less stops than everyone else and Massa taking him in finish. And Webber too certainly had to work for podium. Also note: both Toro Rossos got points and second consecutive 9th for Barrichello which are the only points of Williams this year. And Pedro de la Rosa, as I said perhaps in last race of long career, did steady fine 12th, finishing on same lap as winner. Not bad, being thrown in the car like that. And thanks to the rain delay, I got to see half of the race live, for change.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaunisto)Mon, 13 Jun 2011 17:20:42 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90135,from=rss#post90135https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90135,from=rss#post90135I'm not sure I agree that it was supposed to be a joke Leo - I actually think he needs to grow up. This is a sport which has been predominantly white throughout its history and has had Max Mosley involved, as well as Bernie Ecclestone who has made comments that show that he might have Nazi sympathies before. It would not surprise me if those in power are racist and when judging Hamilton they use prejudices against him just because he's not white. This is not to say that I think that the punishments at Monaco were unjust and based upon skin colour (I can't say for sure), but I can't see why he's had to make a case to the stewards in 5 of the 6 races. Before Monaco I can't recall many outrageous passes this year. I think he shouldn't have said those comments, but he was frustrated and tried to sooth himself with a very poor joke. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Li0nh3eart)Tue, 31 May 2011 17:31:20 +0000 Re:https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90102,from=rss#post90102https://banythinggoes3.runboard.com/p90102,from=rss#post90102I see he's bleating about racism because he was criticized - methinks he has a huge chip on his shoulder.
