Britain's Economic Problems
The collapse of the world banking and financial system has left Britain in an economic mess and now it's the working people, the low paid and the poor that are going to have to bear the brunt of it all and pick up the bill and pay to sort it all out.
It's a disgrace that this should fall on the shoulders of those who can least afford it whilst the bankers and the wealthy employ accountants to work out how to avoid paying taxes like transferring their earnings into offshore tax havens or into their partners names. Tax avoidance and tax evasion by these people is immoral and they should be ashamed of themselves and it's high time the government did something about it instead of telling us all that 'we're all in this together' routine.
I'm fully expecting the Tories to be telling us next that it will be mandatory for the low paid and the poor to fitted with gastric bands so that they will not have to eat and drink so much to stay alive and that once they have found a job that earns good money and they have saved up enough that they will get a 10% discount on the cost of having it removed at a private medical clinic but not on the NHS..
It seems that It's the unemployed and the low paid peoples own fault for being poor and being paid low wages in the first place so they should stop moaning and just get on with it.
What a wonderful world we live in.
Oh well, drink up.

Re:
What do you think about the economic crisis in Ireland - it seems they're going for a bail-out after all.
I agree with you Heart - it's always a case of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and there is far too much corruption and graft and nepostism going on, not only in the UK but all over the world.

Re:
I have an opinion about all of this.
While I don't believe that communism is the answer, I also don't believe that total capitalism that exploits the employee is the answer either. It is somewhere in the middle.
Firstly I think that basic education should be worldwide mandatory and be made available to everybody. Then I think that payments to the people at the top should be capped, or taxes should be scaled so that there is no attraction in earning a high salary if you have to pay half of it in taxes.
There should be basic needs seen to for everybody, housing, water and sanitation and if you want more, you have to earn it. The 'dole' or unemployment benefits should be paid only if you agree to work for the local authority. If you won't clean graffiti off walls or sweep streets, then you simply don't get any money.
Primary school should be free for everyone. Parents should not have to pay to have their children taught literacy and numeracy, and the test for being allowed to go to high school should be that you meet a minimum standard of literacy and numeracy, and apprenticeships should be brought back so people who aren't academically inclined can be taught a trade and tradespeople would then be better qualified. More on this though, I've held the floor for long enough.
