What have you been watching this evening?

On another thread we were discussing local television programmes and how not worth watching they are.

I couldn't find anything decent to watch at all tonight despite having satellite and several dozen channels from which to choose.

By the time we were ready to settle down and be entertained, most of the movies were halfway through - I wish they'd all co-ordinate their times better! And there were so many repeats, and so many boring things on; an old James Bond, already seen many times - and so on. A movie regarding a court case looked the most interesting but it turned out to be Erin Brokovich in the guise of John Travolta - or almost the same anyhow. Boring, boring - typical Saturday night stuff.

What did you watch?

We watched NCIS recorded off SABC2 last night. The story was about human smuggling from China (underage girls) and the murder of a Marine who was trying to prevent a 14-year-old being raped.
Then we watched CSI recorded on Thursday night, very amusing story about an ex-boxer who was living on the property of a hot of ill-repute when he was found floating in the swimming pool and how he died by drowning, despite having been shot through the neck with an arrow, bashed on the head with a tire iron, injected with rattle-snake venom and fed seafood, to which he was allergic.
A bit light-hearted for a change but fun.
That took two hours.

There was a show on tonight about human trafficking as well but I didn't feel like getting depressed! There was seriously nothing on the box worth looking at Mo - had you not watched previously recorded ones I'm sure you also would've been irritated!

When the man turned to the cartoon network in desperation I gave up and moved out!

If I have nothing recorded, which is rare because I save whole series to watch in one go and we are working our way through the 4400 at the moment, and I'm recording the second season of Eureka to watch later as well, I have hundreds of DVDs to look through for something to watch. But I don't ever get to watch them because I usually have about a week's worth of watching on the two recorders.

We never record anything anymore - never get a chance to watch them anyway so ...

Just hope there's something tomorrow night worth looking at!

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) have just started rebroadcasting the West Wing from Season One. It is such an interesting series you would enjoy it. It's on a different times during the day, Monday to Friday. I'm recording the whole lot so I can keep them and watch through each season all at once.
Really brilliant way to learn about American politics.
That channel and MNet Stars have fantastic programmes every day - all day. Try looking there for something to watch.
The Action channel has loads of good stuff as well. Also series and movies, old and new.

I definitely want to see West Wing, but watching at different times during the day is really not convenient and as I said, if we were to record it, we'd probably never get round to watching it anyway. I'd rather go and get the DVDs from the video shop when I'm in the mood and we can spend a whole day watching the whole series, as we did with 24.
Or watch one or two episodes per evening when we have time.
When we move we're de-cluttering and chucking out all the old videos anyway so I really don't want to start collecting all over again - I guess we all have differing reasons for what we do and why we do it - or not!

It's not different episodes at different times.
The new episode is at 7 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and then during the day at 6 a.m. and one other time, I'm not sure the previous evening's episode is re-broadcast so you have three opportunities to see each episode.
It's really a wonderful series.

Here's the official site

Wanted to watch West Wing but they were already on Episode 8 and I'd rather see it from the beginning ...

So we surfed a bit and came up with Two and a Half Men. There was some obnoxious kid in it that I wanted to strangle so we moved on, and settled on Lewis. But we'd seen that episode already, and ended up watching House instead!
