I hate blinds. A decade or two of them and still hate them.

I've lately taken too many things to play read and watch, not enough hours in a day.

I need them in the kitchen because the neighbours overlook that window, and in the bathroom because the morning sun. Otherwise they can go.

I woke up with a literal pain in the neck this morning. So I'm sitting on the bed feeling sorry for myself, drugged up, and wrapped in a neck brace.

Otherwise, we ordered blinds for our patio today. The sun bakes down on us in the afternoon, so we thought it would be nice to block it out. I'm also tossing the ugly venetian blinds in the kitchen for some modern roller blinds.

Love our blinds, no so much the one in the kitchen but we seem to keep it rolled up anyway. The people behind us go to bed with the chickens - and the other folk behind us have gone to stay with their daughter it seems, while she is going through a divorce, to care for the children. If anyone wants to see me washing dishes or running round the kitchen tidying drawers, they're welcome!

Baked a Christmas cake this morning, the first of many. Well - it's still in the oven. Also cooked lunch instead of dinner because we're going to the concert tonight and I hate rushing a meal before we go.
Jo asked me to make a Yule Log for her for next month and I'm happy to try it, although I haven't ever made one before. Think it's like a simple Swiss Roll made with chocolate, and rolled up and iced to resemble a tree branch. My oven isn't working properly though ... made a cake for when Barry came yesterday and it was half raw.

He was really thankful for your hospitality. They were impressed. Really impressed.
I'm not bothering to make a cake for Christmas, I'll just go along with what the kids want to do.

I suppose I could just not worry about whether she sees me or not. I just really like privacy. Still I've spent the money for those blinds so they have to wait. Needed other stuff for the house. I've put everyone off for the weekend so I can just chill out and relax. It's been a difficult few days with my neck out and Jeff getting worked up over exams. I wish he'd just leave it and take a year off but he can't because they'll cancelling that course when his group is done. They're changing the way lawyers are trained. He's almost done, these are final year courses, so difficult. Next week the exams start then it's over for a couple of months again.

Yesterday we rushed down to PMB to return something John had bought that didn't work - didn't even stop for a coffee but came straight back because Wilson and Mildred were here helping as usual on a Friday. Last night, for the first time in a couple of years, we went down to the pub night to have fish and chips. New woman taken over the catering and it was brilliant - huge servings and served with tartare sauce and two different salads. We'll go again.

Today just chilling. Literally - the weather has turned cold again overnight. John is playing league bowls later and I hope to catch up on some reading after sorting out some stuff on the computer.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, whatever you're up to! K I agree that there are not enough hours in a day - never enough time, and the older we get the faster it goes ...

I spent the day with my pregnant daughter-in-law who is really having a hard time. She has health issues with pregnancy so is almost restricted to bed at the moment. She loves having company, so after the week I've had with injuries and irritations, I thought it would be nice to spend a day with her. She's really lovely, I do enjoy being with her and of course the granddaughters. I do get tired very easily these days, so I'm back resting my head in bed while himself enjoys Star Trek on Netflix.

Purchased cleaning products with no toxins after realizing I haven’t been dealing with seasonal allergies, I am allergic to things in my apartment.

Did you have to take out a loan? emoticon
Cleaning materials are a ridiculously high price here -
I hope the toxin free ones work ... I find the "green" products here don't do as good a job somehow.

Yesterday we had lunch out down in our AV dining room. Very good, and we were pleasantly surprised; perhaps the new person in charge of catering is a new broom sweeping clean. There as a tasty soup, yummy salads, roast pork with crackling and apple sauce, roast chicken, roast potatoes, gems, carrots, rice and gravy - and then a baked dessert with fresh whipped cream, and coffee or tea ... and also a free glass of wine or juice with the meal.

And last night we went to friends for drinks and snacks - another feast, wow! Snacks were more like a meal ... crackers with dips and crudites and cheeses, smoked mussels, freshly steamed asparagus with lemon butter, garlic breads and a curry cheese bread (so good!) served with savoury mince .... and more. Need to starve today after all that!!

Today just chilling and trying to sort things on the computer - John has gone to the bank to get a travel wallet and order some rupees to use in Mauritius. Cash is needed for taxis, drinks, snacks, souvenirs etc.

I'm so pleased the meal was good. It's great that you have that so you don't have to cook. I'm enjoying cooking at the moment. Don't know how long it will last but it's lovely to have a big kitchen and loads of space for toys to help with the cooking. With the area outside the back door protected from the weather, and once the blinds are there to help, it will be like having a second kitchen.

Today I ordered a mattress for our spare room bed. We're moving our old base in there on Friday when we get the new bedroom furniture, well not new, but more of the heirlooms. So now I'll have a proper guest bedroom for visitors, and my granddaughter to stay over.

My neck isn't quite right just yet. I can't sit upright in a chair, yet. It hurts like blazes when I do. I'm going to have to see a doctor in the next three weeks because my script has run out now. Not too happy about that. Strangers and more strangers because I need a dentist as well. Ugh!
