We're finally done with tidying up the house and sorting through all the bits and pieces we've inherited. I'm exhausted, and sore!. I injured my left shoulder in the first week we were here but I've been soldiering through the pain to get the work done.

Now I just want to sit and do mostly nothing except the daily chores that need my attention. I'm a little worried about the state of mind of the son who lives with us. He's not well. Hopefully, over time with the security of having a home to care for and us to worry about, he'll get a little more confident about where he's going.

That's terrific news. I'm sure you'll be fine. emoticon

Eek! I hope so. Thank-you.

It was my cousin's wedding day yesterday. A truly glorious day with the weather, service and of course the England result. We made it to the do just in time for the game, where it was aired on a big screen. The bride, my cousin, arrived just as the first goal was scored. Great timing!

And what a game it was too. Another bugbear put to bed after the penalty shootout win in how we finally beat Sweden in a competitive game, and deservedly so too. We may have had the 'easier' side of the draw, but we still had to do it and we've rarely produced performances and results against teams comparable to or worse than Sweden in recent tournaments (Costa Rica, Algeria, Iceland, USA), so it still feels like a great achievement. This side may not be as technically gifted as the sides of the early to mid 2000s, but they are much more of a team and have won the hearts and minds of England again after so many years of atrocious performances.

I do hope the Scots and others who said that we'd come unstuck against a class side like Sweden having only beaten weak sides before then don't reword their comments to include Sweden in their list of weak teams now. emoticon

I hosted our friend Fin to brunch this morning. Some of you probably won't remember her, but in the early days of AG, she, and my sister, helped us get some mileage in points by promoting us to win competitions, even though they weren't really into the forum thing.

She's a lovely person, brought yummy pastries along to enjoy with champagne and standard breakfast fare. Three hours later we finally left the table and she went home again. One of the things I'm going to enjoy about living here is spending more time with friends, who, like her, I met on the internet.

Sounds like a lovely day for a wedding Lion.

How wonderful to be able to spend more time with friends Morwen.

Tidied up the computer room a bit. Not doing a lot as Sundays are for relaxing.

Have a great day everyone.

Spent a few days down at the coast for my brother's 80th birthday - it was a lovely party and so good to see friends and family again. But wow, I'm glad to be home! Went to one of the big Malls because we needed to do some shopping and it drove me crazy - hordes of people, loud muzak, piledrivers hammering away in preparation for new escalators to be installed, and an evacuation from one of the shops because they had a firebomb explode following a bomb threat. The world is crazy - and as for the traffic !!!! It was the Durban July Handicap on Saturday and the whole world seems to have decided to come to the party. More about the fashion than the horse racing. If you could call it fashion!!

It was. The service, the weather, the food, the speeches and the football all went swimmingly. It was a memorable day for them.

Three days without workers coming here to make a mess. It feels like heaven! I've finally settled down to a day-to-day order of doing things. Today I started with tidying up and sorting out cupboards after just putting things away when we moved. I'm going to do a little every day until I know where everything is, and everything is in its place.

We're talking to plumbers to do some work on the bathroom while we're away in the mountains in October, so the fittings can settle. So that's still on the cards. Then a kitchen revamp in 2018. I'm saving money for that. Otherwise I'm feeling a lot better now I'm a little relaxed and not just cleaning up after people I also stress about waiting for.

The house becomes ours today. Finally the bureaucracy has it's ducks in the right rows, now we own our house.
