Re: Game of Thrones I'm not sure if that goes for me. There are quite a lot of things I keep watching (Star Wars is just being shown once a week and I won't miss any of them, yesterday Monty Python's Meaning of Life), but mostly I prefer stuff with epic pathos and I think that's mostly for emotions they bring, same as listening often some song.
Also when a show or series of movies has complicated story structures, I like to rewatch them to learn and memorize those patterns, to see how the whole thing has developed. This goes for lots of other things too, from real history to games and comics.
Though I do find very satisfying when I can remember exactly some line or series of events in a film as it happens.
Re: Yes, I agree with you. But it's also like the comfort of visiting old friends. The West Wing and Game of Thrones do that for me. There have been other shows I've watched more than once, Frasier, Dallas, spring to mind, but I don't watch them anymore. The two I've mentioned, I watch them at least once a year, sometimes more, especially when I need comforting.
Now I have VOD, there's so much to watch that I don't have time to watch real-time tv anymore. We do in the evenings to relax before we go to bed, but mostly I just watch tv on my phone. I watch real-time for the news in the morning, not much else.
Re: Game of Thrones I do a lot of nostalgia tripping, perhaps more often with games and comics, but there are some series like Babylon 5... I really should finally get myself season 1 on DVD. Back when I recorded four last seasons on VHS, every single episode (around hundred, with specials movies) and have since watched them all at least four times.
(Good thing too, they still haven't shown the series on TV for second time in almost 20 years.)
Re: Re: To be honest, my attention has drifted since series 5, it seems to have gone downhill for me ever since they left the books and added their own storylines. The world seems smaller, the plots more contrived and it's lost its intrigue and realistic feeling of repercussion of action. Well, for me anyway.
I'm just waiting for The Winds of Winter to be released, if it ever will be.
